In the last three years, there has been a significant expansion in electronic commerce (e-commerce), as a result of this, profound changes and shifts have taken place in consumer shopping experiences and their consumption behaviour. According to eMarketer (2021) e-commerce sales across the globe have increased by 25.7% in 2020, and retail e-commerce sales are projected to rise $4.921 trillion in 2021. Market figures project that the growth rate will increase by two digits in developed countries. This growth is reinforced by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has accelerated the transition to e-commerce and needs of supply chains. Changes in customer behaviour have helped the increase of e-commerce infiltration in sectors where it has been recommended, as well as increased demand for logistics space. E-commerce is, more than ever, the main driver of the logistics market, benefiting from rapid growth across the European Union and is expected to grow by 13% in 2021. This phenomenon has influenced the way consumers shop, pushing many retailers and logistics providers to operate online. Both brick and mortar and e-commerce has experienced significant transition in the year 2020. However, long before the global pandemic, many industries such as fashion - clothes and accessories, beauty, home and garden, groceries have undergone a substantial transformation following the origin of the internet and digitalization. According to eMarketer, the share of e-commerce retail sales grew in Central and Eastern Europe by 21.5%, in the Middle East and Africa by 19.8%, Latin America 19.4%, North America 18.1%, Western Europe 16.9%, Asia Pacific 15.5%.
