The development of the sugar industry in the period 1896-1938: The perspective of economic apriorism and time preference for action in Central Europe

The project focuses on the development of the sugar industry in the territory of Austria-Hungary and Czechoslovakia in the years 1896–1938. The aim is to evaluate the possible influence of economic apriorism (especially Karel Engliš) on the individual personalities in the leadership of the sugar industry. It also aims to examine the individual strategic objectives and actions contained in the available executive reports (in Czech „jednatelské zprávy“) of the Central Association of Czechoslovak sugar industry (in Czech Ústřední
spolek Československého průmyslu cukrovarnického) and interpret them into categories of the so-called time preference theory based primarily on the teachings of the Austrian school represented by Ludwig von Mises and Frank Fetter. The output will be submission of two studies about the above-mentioned topics to the peer-review process of an impact journal.
