The project focuses on the impact of circadian rhythms (natural biological cycles that determine preferences for morning or evening activity) on labour productivity and economic efficiency. The aim of the research is to analyse how chronotypes (the so-called "owls" and "larks") affect the performance of employees during the working day. Through questionnaires, respondents will be identified according to their chronotype and their work performance will be monitored in relation to the time of day and work demands.
The research will focus on employees of large companies in the Czech Republic and possibly three other European countries. The analysis will allow to compare differences in the distribution of chronotype between countries and sectoral differences. The expected outcome is a deeper understanding of the links between individuals' time rhythms and their work performance. The results can be used to design more flexible work schedules that respect individual employee preferences and lead to higher productivity, lower sickness and greater job satisfaction. In this way, the project will contribute to improving economic efficiency and quality of working life at national and international level.
