The European Union's climate and energy agenda has been given a high priority after 2019 with the adoption of the Green Deal. The EU institutions are setting ambitious targets in this area and demanding the implementation of stringent standards that oblige Member States to implement costly measures at a domestic level. The Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has fully demonstrated how the EU climate agenda is significantly intertwined with the energy policies of individual European Union (EU) countries.

The aim of the present project is to examine the energy policies of EU countries with a focus on the structure of energy mixes and import dependency, also with regard to Russian supplies. The project will analyse the diversity of energy sources in the Member States' energy mixes. It will also address the thematic area of greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Furthermore, the project will assess the position of Czechia and analyse the behaviour of Czech households in times of energy crisis in greater detail.

The project outputs will be in the form of two articles with a non-zero impact factor (Q2 according to AIS and Q3 according to AIS) and participation in an international conference (with a paper contribution). The added value of the project lies in the examination of the topical issue regarding the efforts of the Member States to adapt to new trends and to achieve the desired EU climate and sustainability targets.
